On this map, Cactus Corridor West is represented by the area west of the 101 Freeway, bounded by Scottsdale Road to the west, Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to the north and Shea Boulevard to the south. This long, rectangular area of central Scottsdale rests between North Scottsdale and downtown Scottsdale, and is home to several established neighborhoods.
Many of the neighborhoods here in Cactus Corridor West contain homes built primarily between 1970 and 2002, rather than brand-new subdivisions. For example, Desert Hills and Sundown/Stone Ridge Manor are subdivisions which feature single-family homes on large lots, and are set back from the street with large front yards. The Buenavante neighborhood features larger single family homes on larger lots (almost an acre) yet has no HOA. Sovanna Condominimums within the gated community of Scottsdale Country Club features floorplans from 1,300 to over 1,600 square feet, all with 1 or 2 car garages.
Other subdivisions found within Cactus Corridor West include Heatherwood, Avant, Sunburst Farms East, the McDowell Shadow Estates, Scottsdale Village Estates, Jason Manor, Fox Hollow, Rancho San Carlos, Patterson Ranch and Desert Hills North.
Amenities: The Cactus Corridor West neighborhoods share a central location convenient to both the 51 and the 101 freeways. Dining opportunities are varied and plentiful in the Cactus Corridor thanks to the many fine dining as well as locally owned restaurants which populate this rectangle. The Cactus Corridor West is also home to many amenities, including fabulous shopping, thanks to the nearby Scottsdale Quarter, home to an Apple store, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and American Girl. Kierland Commons is just across Scottsdale Road, and offers plenty of fine retailers such as Anthropologie and Crate and Barrel. The Scottsdale Shops area, near the Raintree and Northsight intersection contains many major retailers such as Costco, Kohl’s, Best Buy, Staples and Wal-Mart.
For active and fitness-minded residents, there are dozens of parks with walking and biking trails, such as Sonrisa Park, Sereno Park, Northsight Park, as well as numerous fitness centers. Golfers can take advantage of the year-round beautiful weather on courses such as the Starfire Golf Club, the Scottsdale Country Club East and the Orange Tree Golf Resort.
Schools: The schools in this community are part of Paradise Valley Unified School District, an A rated district, and include Sonoran Sky Elementary School, Desert Shadows Middle School and Horizon High School. The Scottsdale Municipal Airport is within Cactus Corridor West, and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is approximately 18 miles away from this area.
